Chapter 9
Of course I’ve purchased things off the web. I think you’d be hard pressed to find someone who hasn’t participated in e-commerce nowadays. Generally, I prefer to go to the store to purchase items. Maybe it’s because I’m a bit older, but there’s something about going to the store to pick up what you want that same day. Even then, I often use the store’s website to see if said product is in stock. Amazon is getting a little scary with their delivery times though. Just a few weeks ago my girlfriend ordered something between 7-8 pm and it was on our porch when I left for class 12 hours later. Not instantly, but still very fast.
I’ve never been on the seller side of the equation. I’ve never sold anything on eBay or Facebook Marketplace, so I can’t really comment on it.
Also, like most people today I have my subscriptions. I use nugs.net for my music needs, Amazon Prime for my quick shipping and what not, and occasionally I’ll have Disney + and Max for entertainment. I say occasionally because I’m trying to be better about cancelling them when whatever show I’m watching is done and I don’t use it for months at a time.
I have a PayPal account that I use very rarely. If I’m purchasing something from the web, I’m most likely doing it from my PC at home, so I don’t have to worry about man in the middle attacks or anything like that. I’ve used the Berkheimer app to pay city taxes when I still lived in the city, but never used a government website to pay taxes or anything.
